About Bluebird Guide

Bluebird Guide is an independent resource for backyard birdwatchers, nest-box landlords, and anyone who wants to bring Eastern, Western, or Mountain Bluebirds closer to home. We focus on practical, biologically accurate advice — the kind that actually results in fledged chicks and returning pairs, not just a nice-looking box on a fence post.

Our Approach

Bluebirds are cavity nesters with specific, well-documented needs: the right hole diameter, the right box height and orientation, protection from House Sparrows and predators, and enough insect prey (or supplemental mealworms) nearby to raise a brood. We write from that biology outward, not from a generic songbird template.
